Hiking the Stiles Cove Path section of the East Coast Trail out of Flatrock, NL on Saturday, Heather and I stumbled on a male and a female snowy owl! We watched from a distance as they did their thing.

Here’s a short video of a few Black-Capped Chickadees and a single Boreal Chickadee eating from Heather’s hand. The day before this was stormy, and we did this, and got mobbed! They emptied her hand of peanuts and pecked at her fingers!

By the way, that strange squeak at the start of the video is indeed a Chickadee; the second one that grabbed a peanut! He’s very distinctive with that bizarre squeak!

More of our Red Crossbill visitor. I realized when I came in out of the cold that I didn’t take any pics of the Grosbeaks when I noticed the Crossbill! :)

This winter we’ve been getting a new visitor: a female Red Crossbill. She’s been hanging out with the Pine Grosbeaks. In this pic, you can see why they’re so named! More to come!
